Healing in Community
When I started my business, I knew I would have some element of group work as a large part of my work.
Not just because of where I come from and how much I believe in the power of community to heal but because I was hearing the need for it from the people I worked with!
Disconnection During the Pandemic
Obviously, the pandemic created a sense of social isolation and loneliness that was unprecedented in our modern culture. It divided us more than we could have ever imagined.
But it also reminded us what we need. Connection. Community. One another.
What it Looks Like Together
My desire to offer a wide range of services is grounded in this desire to build community and connection as well as in the simple fact that IT WORKS. Not for everyone and not for everything, but in general, healing and change can be dramatically fast-tracked in a group setting.
Yet every setting is not for every person, so I offer a variety of types of support for the variety of types of people. This is why I feel that self-guided courses are also an important tool to offer, as for some, this modality is the one that may offer the support you are needing!
If any of these types of work sound interesting to you, do not hesitate to call or email me so that I can help you consider what might work best for you!
Why group therapy?
Many people consider individual, or one-on-one therapy, to be the gold standard. Some think, “I am better one-on-one; it is too hard to open up around people,” or some version of this.
However, they don’t always consider the power of group healing, especially when it comes to loneliness. Part of what is so hard about loneliness is that we feel alone in it. Just being reminded that we are not alone in our loneliness is a powerful antidote.
Group therapy gives us an opportunity to have our experience reflected back to us, which creates a sense of belonging, of being seen and KNOWN for who we are, and it also reduces any shame or sense of stigma that may be present.
While all of this can absolutely happen in individual therapy, group therapy has the power to accelerate this healing in a powerful way. It can also be a much more affordable form of therapy for those who find cost to be a barrier.

- Tap into your body using body-based somatic and mindfulness practices
- Identify core beliefs or stories about yourself that might be holding you back from connection to yourself and others
- Identify and communicate your core values, wants, needs, and purpose
- Understand how your history has shaped your present by tapping into your beliefs about yourself and loosening the grip you have on them
- Begin to cultivate a sense of inner peace, self-compassion and more groundedness through practices like journaling, meditation, body movement, and mindfulness practice
- Be in community with supportive and like-minded people
- Identify what parts of you may need more of your emotional attention
- Release the idea that healing has to happen in a specific timeframe
- Connect with and find your inner voice to more clearly find ease in communicating with yourself and others
- Develop a practice(s) that will aid your healing and continued self-discovery
